Two Knees & One Success Story

Mitch Lampkins

Mr. Lampkins was recently hospitalized and had elective surgery for bilateral total knee replacements secondary to osteoarthritis. He chose Providence Pointe Healthcare for his rehabilitation. Mr. Lampkins shared,

I saw this as a challenge like most challenges, you can’t accomplish them by yourself.  I put myself where the right people could help me. I’ve been involved in my own recovery while here through care plan meetings, and I’ve done whatever they have told me to do. I wanted to get better, and I like all the encouragement I received.
— Mitch Lampkins

Most important to him was how positive and encouraging our therapists and staff have been. He appreciated the relaxed atmosphere, too. Mr. Lampkins certainly exceeded expectations! In just 12 days, his range of motion improved by over 30 degrees and his balance deficits improved from high fall risk to low fall risk. He is independent in his activities of daily living. He is now able to ambulate with an assistive device over 1000 feet with just standby assistance and is able to go up and down 20 steps with a hand rail which has allowed him to return home! We enjoyed having Mr. Lampkins with us at Providence Pointe Healthcare. He is a hard worker and showed us how someone can face the challenge of having both knees replaced with grace and determination.
